Mordechai Zeira was one of the icons of the Israeli music scene in the 1930-1960 period.He was known around the world for his amazing melodies and his mission to create a mix between his eastern European music training and origins and the local middle eastern sound. I was very fortunate to meet Zeira’s widow Sara after a great tribute concert that I took part in. Sara invited me to meet with her in her apartment in Tel Aviv. We met a few times and in one of our meetings, Sara asked me if I would record a tribute album from Zeira’s work.Well, That was a real honor for me and I immediately said yes. That gave birth to Layla Layla.Ron Druyan gave the songs a very modern sounding color(for the time of production 1992). Layla Layla brought with it great success and a 150 show’s tour.I hope you enjoy it.With love
